Tucked away on the far reaches of West Cork, Goleen Harbour is one of those rare places that feels completely off-grid yet deeply connected to the world around it. Set on 38 acres of rugged coastline overlooking the Atlantic, it’s part working farm, part eco-retreat, and part creative sanctuary — a place built with real care for the land and a strong sense of sustainability. Everything here has been designed to tread lightly: cabins are raised on ground screws instead of concrete, renewable energy powers the site, and native trees are slowly being reintroduced across the headland.
Founded by Matt Mills and Melanie Furniss, Goleen Harbour blends the spirit of adventure with a deep respect for nature. It’s the kind of place where you can wake to the sound of the sea, take a morning swim from the rocks below, and feel a genuine sense of peace that’s hard to find anywhere else.
The accommodation here is as unique as the landscape — a mix of eco-cabins and geodomes each designed to frame the wild Atlantic views and bring you closer to the elements. The cabins are bright and modern, complete with kitchens and decks that open onto sweeping sea vistas. Two geodomes are tucked higher up the cliffs, cosy yet open to the horizon.
And then there’s the Elemental Spa, Goleen Harbour’s heart of warmth and relaxation. Here you’ll find a wood-fired hot tub, a solar-powered sauna, and even a cold-plunge barrel crafted from an old whiskey cask — all overlooking the Atlantic. It’s a simple but magical ritual: a sunset soak, the scent of woodsmoke, and the sound of waves echoing below. Whether you’re here for yoga, stargazing, or just to unwind, it’s a place that restores you from the inside out.
